The furthest trip I have ever done is to the far island of Ulva, in Southern New Zealand. It was a long trip that I spent almost three days to reach from my home town of Stratford upon Avon, where I just moved a week before my trip.

I get up at 3:33 h in the morning as my taxi is coming at 4:33 h to bring me to Heathrow Airport in London. Yes, it might be long trip by taxi, but it was the cheapest avoiding train on the previous day plus hotel close to the airport on the previous night. Also the car park has increased the prices a lot, so Uber on the same morning is the best option though.

My plane is at 12:25 h but I prefer to go with enough time, as airports use to be packed in the last few years, and it’s the first time I will fly from Heathrow. The best thing, I don’t need to remove my liquids from bag, but the rule of 100ml and put them into plastic bag still remains. Well, I use to spend a lot of time opening my luggage and putting the plastic bag out, so that’s an improvement.

My watch and my bracelet can stay at my wrists too. Wow! 5 seconds more saved! Of course, belt, hat and jacket need to be on the tray, so those 10 seconds remains in the spending time. Then, the queue is inevitable…

Finally, the security control is passed. That X-ray new system is totally innovative so honestly, I think it is time saved. Indeed. On the other hand, I just remembered that I forgot to buy lottery on the previous night. Nevertheless, I got my back pack selected for the random checks. The security man open the four zip sections, until he finds what he was looking for: the shoes cream. At first, he thought I was trying to make a explosive with that, though, so he checks the tube is just 77ml. Yes, 77. The brand of the item loves number 7, like me 😎. Also, he checks the toothpaste. Just 85ml. So no chances to make a bomb with that either 🥲.

You are done, sir. Enjoy your holidays. For sure I will, as until now, I thought I would have a lovely holidays in London Heathrow Airport. But still three hours to go, so I could get the chance to enjoy the Duty Free, look for the toilets for up to 20 min. They finally were in a narrow pathway, in between a bookshop and a small grocery shop. Yes, grocery. And yes, book. Heathrow Airport is all but a surprise. Huge enough for all kind (and sizes) of shops.

And finally, the call for the plane is on. I am so excited. In three days, I will be lying on the sand of those beautiful beaches. And enjoying the night of those amazing villages.

El viaje más lejano que he hecho es a la lejana isla de Ulva, en el sur de Nueva Zelanda. Fue un viaje largo en el que empleé casi tres días en llegar desde mi ciudad de residencia, Stratford upon Avon, adonde me había mudado una semana antes del viaje.

Me levanto a las 3:33 h de la mañana porque mi taxi viene a las 4:33 h para llevarme al aeropuerto de Heathrow en Londres. Sí, puede que sea un viaje largo en taxi, pero era el más barato evitando el tren del día anterior más el hotel cerca del aeropuerto de la noche anterior. Además ha subido mucho el precio del parking, así que Uber en la misma mañana es la mejor opción.

Mi avión sale a las 12:25 h pero prefiero ir con tiempo suficiente, ya que los aeropuertos suelen estar abarrotados en los últimos años, y es la primera vez que volaré desde Heathrow. Lo mejor, no necesito sacar mis líquidos de la maleta, pero la regla de 100ml y meterlos en bolsa de plástico sigue en pie. Bueno, antes pasaba mucho tiempo abriendo el equipaje y sacando la bolsa de plástico, así que es una mejora.

Mi reloj y mi pulsera también pueden permanecer en mis muñecas. ¡Vaya! ¡5 segundos más ahorrados! Por supuesto, el cinturón, el sombrero y la chaqueta tienen que estar en la bandeja, así que esos 10 segundos no se ahorrarán. Entonces, la cola es inevitable…

No se asusten con la maleta negra de la esquina izquierda de la foto, es mía 😅.

Por último, se pasa el control de seguridad. Ese nuevo sistema de rayos X es totalmente innovador, así que, sinceramente, creo que se ahorra tiempo. Efectivamente. Por otro lado, acabo de recordar que olvidé comprar lotería la noche anterior. No obstante, me seleccionan la mochila para el control aleatorio. El hombre de seguridad abre las cuatro secciones de cremallera, hasta que encuentra lo que buscaba: la crema de zapatos. Al principio, pensó que estaba intentando hacer un explosivo con eso, así que comprueba que el bote sólo tiene 77 ml. Sí, 77. A la marca del artículo le encanta el número 7, como a mí 😎. Además, comprueba la pasta de dientes. Sólo 85ml. Así que tampoco hay posibilidades de hacer una bomba con eso 🥲.

Todo listo, señor. Disfrute de sus vacaciones. Seguro que sí, ya que hasta ahora pensaba que iba a pasar unas vacaciones encantadoras en el aeropuerto londinense de Heathrow. Pero aún faltaban tres horas, así que tuve la oportunidad de disfrutar del Duty Free, buscando los aseos durante 20 min. Finalmente estaban en un estrecho pasillo, entre una librería y una pequeña tienda de comestibles. Sí, ultramarinos. Y sí, librería. El aeropuerto de Heathrow es toda una sorpresa. Suficientemente grande para todo tipo (y tamaño) de tiendas.

Y por fin, la llamada para el avión está en marcha. Estoy tan emocionado. En tres días, estaré tumbado en la arena de esas hermosas playas. Y disfrutando de la noche de esos pueblos increíbles.

Y ahora, está en tu tejado qué de esta historia es verdad, y qué no lo es tanto, pero nunca tan falso, tampoco 😉.
