¿Qué hubiera pasado si el Ejército español en respuesta al terrorismo de ETA hubiera entrado a sangre y fuego en Euskadi, asesinando a más de 42.000 personas, casi el 80% mujeres y niños? ¿Qué habríamos dicho si el ataque hubiera obligado al 100% de los vascos a dejar sus casas bajo las bombas? ¿Qué habríamos hecho si el bombardeo de Gernika hubiera sido todos los días en todo el País Vasco durante un año hasta reducirlo a cenizas y polvo? ¿Qué hubiera pensado el mundo de nosotros si hubieran bombardeado escuelas y clínicas, masacrando a familias enteras, bajo la excusa de que ahí se ocultaban los terroristas, que utilizaban a los civiles como escudos? ¿Hubiéramos justificado la masacre porque, total, todos los vascos son etarras o les dan cobijo?

¿De verdad hubiéramos asistido impasibles a las imágenes de los cuerpos mutilados, de los niños muertos, de los familiares destrozados de dolor? ¿Nos hubiéramos callado si les hubieran dejado sin agua, comida, luz y medicamentos abocando a la muerte a los enfermos y heridos? ¿No hubiéramos alzado la voz al ver los bebés prematuros que morían por falta de medios? ¿Tampoco hubiera dicho nada la prensa mundial si hubieran asesinado a más periodistas que en ningún conflicto de la historia? ¿Hubieran venido los presidentes occidentales a felicitar a nuestro presidente después de llamar a las víctimas “hijos del mal”? ¿Nos hubiera parecido normal que el ministro de Defensa llamase “animales humanos” a los vascos mientras ordenaba su exterminio? ¿En serio se habría llamado “legítima defensa” a un genocidio en plena Europa?

¿Y si, como planteaba Maruja Torres en su última columna en la SER, Alemania les hubieran dado a los judíos parte de su territorio y los judíos hubieran hecho con los alemanes lo que los alemanes hicieron con los judíos? ¿Y si les hubieran ocupado las tierras, les hubieran asesinado y encarcelado, humillado y torturado, y les hubieran encerrado en un apartheid de guetos y campos, donde hubieran iniciado su extinción? ¿Lo llamaríamos “legítima defensa” frente al Holocausto? ¿Occidente apoyaría la colonización de Alemania? ¿Ayudaría también a los nuevos nazis? ¿Perseguiría también a los antinazis? ¿Seguiría llamando “democracia” a Israel y “terroristas” a los alemanes? 

¿Y si Israel hiciese detonar a distancia cientos de buscas y walkies de la resistencia alemana, aniquilando al mismo tiempo a decenas de civiles, hiriendo a centenares, los medios lo llamarían por fin “terrorismo” o se dedicarían a elogiar el prodigio tecnológico y la habilidad de los servicios secretos? ¿Y qué haría Europa si Israel decidiera invadir Francia o Polonia porque está prestando ayuda a sus vecinos: dejaría que el nazismo israelí se extendiese por el continente como un cáncer, como se ha extendido por Palestina? ¿Y Estados Unidos saldría en defensa de los ocupantes y no de los ocupados porque tenemos una deuda histórica con los judíos que les da carta blanca para pasar de víctimas a verdugos? ¿Entonces esta vez las democracias del mundo se pondrían de parte del genocidio? 

¿Entonces también estaríamos de parte de la invasión de Rusia a Ucrania porque nosotros estamos a favor del colonialismo? ¿Entonces también estaríamos del lado de los israelíes cuando invadiesen toda Europa como legítima defensa por lo que les hicieron? ¿Entonces estaríamos a favor de tener que salir huyendo cuando nosotros seamos los bombardeados? ¿Entonces nos parecería bien que Israel nos ocupe y nos encierre en la península como ha encerrado a los palestinos en Gaza? ¿Entonces nos dejaríamos someter dócilmente y llamaríamos “terrorista” a todo el que mostrase rebeldía? ¿Entonces aceptaríamos que nos llamasen a nosotros “invasores” cuando cruzásemos el Mediterráneo hacia África para huir de las bombas? ¿Entonces nos resignaríamos a morir en el mar y a ser recibidos a balazos en las fronteras? 

¿O entenderíamos, por fin, quién es el invasor, el colonizador, el genocida, quién es el invadido, el oprimido, la víctima, cómo es posible que nadie haga nada para para detener al agresor y que nosotros no hagamos más para denunciar la mayor matanza jamás retransmitida, cómo nos tienen colonizadas las cabezas, cómo los medios llaman democracia al terrorismo y terrorismo a la autodefensa, por qué la piel y la religión importan y el lado de la frontera donde naces determina el lado de la historia al que perteneces? ¿Entenderíamos, por fin?

NO A LA GUERRA. SÍ A LA PAZ.

Porque hagamos la Vida Maravillosa para todos y cada uno de los habitantes de esta Tierra. Que Nada nos Pare!!!

What would have happened if the Spanish army, in response to ETA terrorism, had entered the Basque Country in blood and fire, killing more than 42,000 people, almost 80% of them women and children? What would we have said if the attack had forced 100% of Basques to leave their homes under the bombs? What would we have done if the bombing of Guernica had been carried out every day throughout the Basque Country for a year until it was reduced to ashes and dust? What would the world have thought of us if they had bombed schools and clinics, massacring entire families, under the excuse that the terrorists were hiding there, using civilians as shields? Would we have justified the massacre because, after all, all Basques are ETA supporters or give them shelter?

Would we really have stood by and watched the images of mutilated bodies, dead children, and grieving relatives? Would we have kept silent if they had been left without water, food, electricity and medicine, and if the sick and wounded were condemned to death? Would we not have raised our voices when we saw premature babies dying for lack of resources? Nor would the world press have said anything if they had murdered more journalists than in any conflict in history? Would Western presidents have come to congratulate our president after calling the victims «children of evil»? Would it have seemed normal to us that the Minister of Defence called the Basques «human animals» while ordering their extermination? Would it really have been called «legitimate defence» for a genocide in the middle of Europe?

What if, as Maruja Torres said in her last column in the SER, Germany had given the Jews part of its territory and the Jews had done to the Germans what the Germans did to the Jews? What if they had occupied the land, murdered and imprisoned them, humiliated and tortured them, and locked them up in an apartheid of ghettos and camps, where they would have begun their extinction? Would we call it «self-defence» against the Holocaust? Would the West support the colonisation of Germany? Would it also help the new Nazis? Would it also persecute the anti-Nazis? Would it still call Israel a «democracy» and the Germans «terrorists»?

And if Israel remotely detonated hundreds of German resistance fighters and walkies, simultaneously annihilating dozens of civilians, injuring hundreds, would the media finally call it «terrorism» or would they praise the technological prodigy and the skill of the secret services? And what would Europe do if Israel decided to invade France or Poland because it is helping its neighbours: would it let Israeli Nazism spread across the continent like a cancer, as it has spread in Palestine? And would the United States come to the defence of the occupiers and not the occupied because we owe the Jews a historical debt that gives them carte blanche to turn from victims to executioners? So this time the democracies of the world would side with genocide?

Would we then also side with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine because we are in favour of colonialism? Would we then also side with the Israelis when they invade the whole of Europe in self-defence for what they did to them? Would we then be in favour of having to flee when we are the ones being bombed? So would we be okay with Israel occupying us and locking us up in the peninsula like they have locked up the Palestinians in Gaza? So would we meekly submit and call anyone who rebelled a «terrorist»? So would we accept being called «invaders» when we cross the Mediterranean to Africa to escape the bombs? So would we resign ourselves to dying at sea and being greeted with bullets at the borders?

Or would we finally understand who is the invader, the coloniser, the genocidal, who is the invaded, the oppressed, the victim, how it is possible that nobody does anything to stop the aggressor and that we do no more to denounce the biggest massacre ever broadcast, how our heads are colonised, how the media call terrorism democracy and self-defence terrorism, why skin and religion matter and why the side of the border where you are born determines the side of history to which you belong? Would we finally understand?

NO TO WAR. YES TO PEACE.
