¿Cuáles son tus mayores retos?

What are your biggest challenges?

<<Hoy puede ser un gran día (…) y mañana también>>. Así comienza y continúa una de las grandes y más famosas canciones de Joan Manuel Serrat, así que de esta manera quiero comenzar mi primer post de este 2025 (sí, ya sé que ayer publiqué uno ya, pero fue compartiendo el trabajo de otro compañero, no creación mía propia), augurando grandes proyectos, pensando en maravillosas historias, sobre el papel, y también sobre la realidad.

2024 fue un gran año, ya lo comentábamos algunos posts atrás. Personalmente, fue un año de cambio, de mudanza, de nuevos proyectos y de asentamiento en antiguas costumbres que habíamos dejado un poco olvidadas en los cinco, o incluso diez últimos años: la lectura. Así que el día cuatro de enero, escribí un post en este sitio para anunciar mi gran objetivo: romper con la rutina de uno o dos libros anuales (quizás tres, en alguno, creo que solo uno, de los cinco años anteriores). Y esta fue mi propuesta:

Todos de deporte. Todos de basket. Todos regalados en los tres años anteriores, y de los cuales solo uno había empezado brevemente. El primero de todos, el de más abajo, lo terminé poco antes del final de enero. Había empezado fuerte, sí, a un ritmo que me haría tener todos terminados muchísimo antes de lo previsto. Pero el segundo me costó lo suyo, y no porque no me gustara, porque de veras me encantó, pero me pilló en medio del cambio de casa, la vuelta a la rutina de ver series que también había dejado un poco olvidadas en los últimos dos años años, y algunas que otras vacaciones también. Pero una vez asentado en mi nueva casa, todo fluyó, y a eso del mes de julio, finales también, más o menos seis meses después del término del primer libro del año, finalicé Hablemos de Basket.

Seguidamente, comencé el tercero en discordia, y me lo bebí en poco menos de dos meses. Aquí ni las vacaciones evitaron que siguiera con mi lectura y, es más, favorecieron que recondujera mis hábitos a las buenas costumbres de la misma…

Y entonces, me encontré ante mi cuarto y último libro en mi lista de propósitos con más de tres meses por delante hasta concluir 2024. Lolaso y su particular forma de escribir me facilitaron que acabara con Cualquier tiempo muerto pasado en poco más de cuatro semanas y, superado el reto, comencé a aumentar la torre con revistas que tenía ya empezadas o por empezar de años anteriores (Gigantes) una nueva adquirida en el mes de octubre (Panenka) y un par de libros para poner el broche de oro a un 2024 memorable:

De Nómada United aún me quedan algunas páginas para rematar esa bella historia de un equipo underdog que la temporada 2023-24 se hizo gigante con el transcurso de la FA Cup inglesa. Así que será el primero de mis lecturas obligadas en este 2025 recién comenzado.

Luego quiero seguir con un ebook que comencé el año pasado (Aquí no hay Reglas – Netflix y la cultura de la reinvención, de Reed Hastings y Erin Meyer).

Después continuaremos con el último de los libros que tengo empezados desde hace ya, The Beautiful Badge, The Stories behind the Football Club Badge (La Bella Insignia, Historias detrás de la Insignia del Club de Fútbol), de Martyn Routledge y Elspeth Wills, para finalizar con Patria, de Fernando Aramburu, también en version ebook, recién comprado hace pocos meses y que completa una biblioteca bastante extensa que quiero empezar a leer.

Luego tengo uno recién regalado en estas navidades, Invasión de campo, de Alejandro Requeijo, que aunque en principio era uno de los fijos a leer en este 2025, al final he decidido colocarlo como el nunca hay quinto malo que, tras el éxito de lectura en este 2024 recién terminado, sé que al final acabará siendo devorado, especialmente por su contenido underdog que tiene desde la propia portada…

Además, seguiré leyendo la amplia sección de revistas de El Diario, que me envían cada tres meses desde hace poco más de cuatro años que me suscribí al medio. El año pasado ya me leí bastantes que tenía un poco olvidadas, y en éste tengo pendientes aún la primera que me mandaron, que al ser en formato PDF había quedado oculta en uno de los emails que me enviaron al inicio de mi suscripción, y la más reciente, que aún ni siquiera me he parado a disfrutar de su portada:

Y así puedo concluir con mis propósitos de lectura para este 2025.

En mi blog, por supuesto que seguiremos publicando más asiduamente, como ya lo llevamos haciendo desde hace ocho meses. No me pongo un número fijo de posts por semana, pero os puedo asegurar que tendréis contenido para disfrutar. La sección de El significado de las canciones volverá muy pronto, ya que tengo varias canciones en mente, pero aún no tengo fijada la fecha de publicación cada siete días, aunque muy probablemente será el jueves. Algunas semanas habrá doble sesión, quizás el domingo, ya que este fue un día importante para varias de mis canciones durante el año pasado, empezando por la que lleva domingo dentro del propio título de la canción: Cosas que hacer un Domingo por la tarde, de mis queridos Vetusta Morla que este año están descansando de las numerosas giras de los últimos años, y ya todos sus fans cuentan sus días para su esperado regreso en 2026 (ese será uno de los propósitos del año próximo, intentaremos cumplirlo).

Y por supuesto, el mayor propósito de este 2025 es seguir disfrutando de la VIDA y seguir siendo FELIZ, y con ello, seguir haciendo feliz a todos los que me rodean. El último de este post y por ello, el más importante de todos. 2024 fue un año ESPECTACULAR. Y este que comienza ahora va a ser APASIONANTE. ¡¡Preparados para el reto!!

Thus begins and continues one of the greatest and most famous songs by Joan Manuel Serrat, so this is how I want to start my first post of this 2025 (yes, I know I already posted one on yesterday, but it was sharing another colleague’s work, not my own creation), predicting great projects, thinking of wonderful stories, on paper, and also on reality.

2024 was a great year, as we mentioned a few posts ago. Personally, it was a year of change, of moving, of new projects and of settling into old habits that we had left a bit forgotten in the last five, or even ten years: reading. So on the fourth of January, I wrote a post on this site to announce my big goal: to break with the routine of one or two books a year (maybe three, in some, I think only one, of the previous five years). And this was my proposal:

All sports. All basketball. All gotten as a gift (Xmas, Birthday…) in the previous three years, only one of which I had started briefly. The first of them all, the one below, I finished shortly before the end of January. I had started strong, yes, at a pace that would have me finish them all much earlier than expected. But the second one took me a while, and not because I didn’t like it, because I really loved it, but it caught me in the middle of moving house, the return to the routine of watching series that I had also left a bit forgotten in the last couple of years, and some holidays as well. But once I was settled in my new home, everything flowed, and around July, which was also the end of the month, more or less six months after the end of the first book of the year, I finished Hablemos de Basket (Let’s Talk About Basketball).

I then began the third in discord, and drank it up in a little less than two months. Here, not even the holidays prevented me from continuing with my reading and, what’s more, favoured a return to the good habits of reading…

And so, I found myself facing my fourth and last book on my list of targets with more than three months to go until the end of 2024. Lolaso and his particular way of writing made it easy for me to finish any dead time spent in little more than four weeks and, having overcome the challenge, I began to increase the tower with magazines I had already started or about to start from previous years (Gigantes -basket-), a new one acquired in October (Panenka -football-) and a couple of books to put the finishing touch to a memorable 2024:

From Nómada United (Nomad United) I still have a few pages left to finish off this beautiful story of an underdog team that in the 2023-24 season became giants in the English FA Cup. So it will be the first of my must-reads in this 2025 that has just begun.

Then I want to follow up with an eBook I started last year (Here There Are No Rules – Netflix and the Culture of Reinvention, by Reed Hastings and Erin Meyer).

Then we will continue with the last of the books I have started, The Beautiful Badge, The Stories behind the Football Club Badge, by Martyn Routledge and Elspeth Wills, to finish with Patria, by Fernando Aramburu, also in eBook version, recently bought a few months ago and which completes a quite extensive e-library that I want to start reading.

Then I have one that was recently given as a present this Christmas, Invasión de campo (Football pitch invasion), by Alejandro Requeijo, which although it was originally one of the fixed ones to read in this 2025, in the end I have decided to place it as the never a bad fifth (Spanish saying, I don’t know if that means something in English, so I explain briefly that we say that when there is nothing better but doing a fifth thing of whatever we are performing, in this case, reading a fifth book even outside the main target for this 2025) that, after the success of reading in this recently finished 2024, I know that in the end it will end up being devoured, especially for its underdog content that it has from the cover itself…

I will also continue to read El Diario‘s extensive section of magazines, which I have been receiving every three months for a little over four years since I subscribed to the media. Last year, I read quite a few that I had somewhat forgotten about, and this year I still have pending the first one they sent me, which, being in PDF format, had been hidden in one of the emails they sent me at the beginning of my subscription, and the most recent one, which I haven’t even stopped to enjoy its cover yet:

And so I can conclude with my reading challenges for 2025.

On my blog, we will of course continue posting more regularly, as we have been doing for the last eight months. I don’t set a fixed number of posts per week, but I can assure you that you will have content to enjoy. The Meaning of the Songs section will be back very soon, as I have several songs in mind, but I haven’t yet set a date for a post every seven days, although it will most likely be on Thursday. Some weeks, there will be a double session, maybe on Sunday, as this was an important day for several of my songs last year, starting with the one with Sunday in the song title itself: Things to do on a Sunday afternoon, by my beloved Vetusta Morla who this year are resting from the numerous tours of the last years, and all their fans are already counting their days for their expected return in 2026 (that will be one of next year’s targets, we’ll try to keep it).

And of course, the main purpose of this 2025 is to continue enjoying LIFE and to continue being HAPPY, and with that, to continue making everyone around me also happy. The last target of this post and therefore, the most important of all. 2024 was a spectacular year. And this one that just started is going to be an AMAZING one. I am ready for the CHALLENGE!!!
